“What the actual heck is going on with the LinkedIN algo?!?!”
The title of this Reddit thread made me giggle – but it accurately sums up conversations all over the channel itself.
Yes, people on LinkedIn are talking about…LinkedIn.
The algorithm is always changing and most recently, the sharp drop in post engagement (average reach is down 34%) has had many worried (panicked may be a better description for some).
Here are a few posts that popped up on my feed this week, all on the algorithm change.
- “Your profile headline now affects who sees your posts”, explains Sachin Jha
- Diana Dulik confirms, “Now it [the LinkedIn algorithm] reads your profile first, and if it can’t answer these questions, your content goes nowhere:
What’s your niche? What topics do you own? Who should see this?”
- Richard Van der Blom says, “In 2024, your network decided your reach. In 2026, your topic relevance decides your reach.”
Honestly, it all makes sense – content quality and relevance determine the success of your post.
Dulik recommends a LinkedIn profile audit: “Pick 2-3 core topics, state them in your headline, post about them 80% of the time.”
It’s clear and achievable advice, and it could help you structure your LinkedIn outputs in 2026.
If you need help, let’s do the audit together: https://calendly.com/sarahnurgat/thirtymin
