After successfully completing my Master’s degree in the lovely Dutch city of Groningen and the chilly but heart-warming Newcastle upon Tyne, I was thrust into a jobless job market. The impact of the pandemic had just hit the economy all over Europe and decent jobs were as scarce as hen’s teeth. I had to take a step back from my lifestyle of traveling, studying and working abroad and started to look for marketing opportunities here in Germany.
Luckily, I was able to land a position at one of the biggest FMCG (fast-moving consumer goods) companies in the world. The role came with a change of scenery as I moved to another picturesque city: Munich.
Suddenly, I was handling marketing campaigns across Germany, organising new product launches and helping some of smartest, yet most understaffed, marketing managers in the country to run successful campaigns. The experience of working on smaller but still very impactful projects for some of the biggest brands in the chewing gum market helped me quickly level up my marketing knowledge.
But destiny always strikes when it’s least convenient. After just a half-year at the company, a family development struck and I was forced to move back home and help out the family. But in every misery there is opportunity, and I was more than overjoyed when I found ThoughtSpark and this position.
The internationalisation that comes with PR when working with multinational clients is one of my favourite aspects of work. Every country and culture has its unique features and specificities, and coordinating those brings me great pleasure. Plus, the home office aspect, combined with flexibility in working times means I can dedicate time to my family without disrupting my work schedule – for which I am extremely grateful !
Outside of work, I am a huge music enthusiast, sports nerd and gamer. I dabble a bit in music production (feel free to ask for some of my songs) and have inherited a love for sports, in particular football. Regardless of what my colleagues say, Werder Bremen is the best football club in the world! If we ever get back to the Champions League again, we’ll prove it to you!
